Lucknow...Lucknow is famous for it's tradition.Chikankari is traditional embroidery from Lucknow .Chikankari is totally hand embroidery done by karigars in the villages around the Lucknow.This embroidery is an ancient embroidery that is done with the help of needle and thread.It has variety of designs which are done carefully to meet the latest fashion demands.
People want chikan in western as well as traditional combination so,now a days in chikan western outfits are also available like skirts,Top,caprie,jacket etc....
In chikan embroidery karigars use different stitches which they call as "Tanka".Different types of tanka are used in chikan embroidery like - Kairi work,Ghas-patti,Shadow work,Daraz,Tepchi,Kangira,Murri,Kangan etc..
Chikan clothes pass through many levels at the time of it,s making like printing of cloth,embroidery on this cloth,full stitching,washing and than applying starch which gives it a perfect texture to be displayed in the showrooms....
It will be surprising for you to know that it takes around 2-8 months to prepare a chikan saree which is exclusive of it's kind.The time depends on embroidery,tanka and finishing of work.
In chikan different varieties are present like-Saree,suits,suit-pieces,Dupatta, Party wear Kurtis,Lehenga, Capri,Bedsheets,Dining table mats,Skirts,Nightgown,Short frocks,Curtains and so many varieties.... 
Chikan cloths are available in every range(low to high) and in different varieties.
